Military Psychology Training, Selection, and Placement Program

Applications are invited from eligible and highly committed students of psychology and practitioners to receive specialised training and potentially secure placement as military psychologists in collaboration with Military MIND Academy, Pune, India. This program is designed and curated to prepare and mentor operational psychologists as optimally trained professionals for taking on critical responsibility in high-impact roles in demanding military settings through structured training, continuous and sustained mentoring, experiential learning through field exposure, and subsequent potential placement opportunities.

Program Overview

Selected candidates will undergo structured training followed by potential placement as military psychologists. The program includes comprehensive training, basic military grooming, professional mentoring, and advanced instruction in combat and operational stress inoculation training, resilience building, military psychology, and counselling.

Number of Positions: On a rolling basis, starting with a six-month probationary period w.e.f. 30th June 2026 to 01st Jan 2027

Open Positions: Pool of initial 10 Trainee Psychologists | 20 Associate Psychologists to be progressively trained and absorbed based on rolling basis roster (share your profile and statement of purpose at samtanktrooper@yahoo.com)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Trainee Psychologist: Graduate in Psychology
  • Associate Psychologist: Postgraduate in Psychology

Work Environment

  • Placement across remote locations in military bases
  • Open to rotational postings and relocation

Training and Placement Structure

Phase 1: Combat Stress Inoculation Training and Counselling Modules

  •  Specialised Training: Basic military grooming and week-long training during04th–10th May 2026/11th–17th May 2026/01st–07th June 2026 (Military MIND Academy, Pune)
  • Accommodation and food will be catered for

Phase 2: Probation Period of six months if selected

  • Participation in the 11th WARMCAMP International Military Psychology and Counselling Conference is mandatory (highlights 02 Day Workshop “Dealing with Combat Stress”: 13th–16th June 2026 at Hotel Aurora Towers, Pune)
  • Duration: 30 June to 01 Jan 2027 (6 months) in military location
  • Stipend provided (Leave not authorised during probation)

Phase 3: Placement Opportunity

  • Placement with Military MIND Academy, Pune, as an operational psychologist to serve in same location where probation carried out in operational area
  • Duration: 1–3 years and subsequently mutually renewable based on performance
  • 30 days of paid leave annually only after completion of probation (All leave must be pre-planned with a minimum of 2 months’ notice, except in cases of medical or other genuine emergencies)
  • Official identity card will be provided
  • Opportunity for full-time absorption as an operational military psychologist with Military MIND Academy based on performance
  • Accommodation, subsidised food, extreme climate clothing, and travel support will be provided

Training Components in Phases 1, 2, and 3

Participants will receive training in:

  • Individual (1:1) counselling in military settings
  • Group interventions for trust-building and cohesion
  • Soft-skill and resilience training
  • Specialised combat stress management
  • Combat veteran psychologist providing insights into operational psychological demands
  • Group-based combat stress interventions

Additional Requirements

  • Preference given to candidates open to relocation and rotational duties
  • Preferably candidates with no liabilities (due to mobility and deployment requirements)
  • No age or gender restrictions
  • Preference to students of Psychology/Practitioners having NCC C certificate

Essential Requirements

  • Physical fitness certificate
  • One-week induction training (Military Mind Academy, Pune)
  • Ethical clearance, data security compliance, and background verification

Program Fee

Once selected for training after an interview, following training charges will accrue:

Phase 1 ₹75,000 for week-long residential (inclusive of food and accommodation) intensive combat stress inoculation training, resilience building, and counselling in military environments

Bond Requirement

  • Selected candidates will be required to execute an Indemnity Bond as per institutional norms.

Medical Benefits

Basic Medical coverage will be provided by the local military formation.
